Constitution Day 2022

This Saturday, September 17th, 2022, marks Constitution Day! Every September 17th, on the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution, we commemorate the signing of this document, which protects individual freedom, and the fundamental principles that govern the United States. To celebrate the day, we’ve put together important facts and activities on the WCUI + Smith Chason Constitution Day module in the Canvas Learning Resource Center for our WCUI + Smith Chason students. Each activity will help you understand how the document relates to our world today. WCUI + Smith Chason students, complete the activities and enter the raffle to win a prize! You have until Monday, September 26th at 11:59 pm PST to enter the raffle,  winners will be announced on Tuesday, September 27th! *One winner per campus

 

What Will You Find in the Canvas LRC Constitution Day 2022 Page:

  • Live Classes on the Constitution – The National Constitution Center will host the following public sessions to promote constitutional education, dialogue, and reflection. All sessions are also recorded and live streamed on their YouTube channel.
    • Constitutional Convention and Civil Dialogue – Wednesday, September 14 & Friday, September 16
    • Voting Rights and Elections – Tuesday, October 4 & Friday, October 7
  • 2022 Liberty Medal Ceremony – A Tribute to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy – On November 7, 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will receive the Liberty Medal at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia during a live broadcast at 6 p.m PST. This 34th annual award will be given to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his heroic defense of liberty in the face of Russian tyranny. To learn more, visit the National Constitution Center’s website and sign up for updates to join the broadcast on Monday, November 7, 2022, at 6:00 pm PST!
  • Know Your Rights! Download the Interactive Constitution app created by the National Constitution Center – This app holds a full analysis of the first 15 amendments to the Constitution and the articles, so you can learn more about the rights you have as a citizen. Find links to download the app from the Apple store or Google Play on the Constitution Day 2022 page.
  • Take a Dance Break with the Schoolhouse Rock – Watch “The Preamble” by Schoolhouse Rock video which helps explain the purpose of the Constitution in a catchy way. After watching the video, explore the Constitution Day page in the OSRC to learn more about why the Constitution is important today and play online games to test your knowledge.
  • Raffle Time! – Fill out the form on the Constitution Day 2022 page to enter to win a prize. One winner will be selected at each campus! Winners will be notified via email and announced on our social pages on Tuesday, September 27th! Follow us @westcoastui @smithchasonnursing
  • And more! Take a study break or celebrate the end of the quarter as you prepare for your next step with interactive games and other live events.
